But did you die.....Matera edition
We woke up, packed and left the spacious, very nice Cozze airbnb at 10am. This is by far the largest airbnb we have been in and it was gorgeous all around. We will miss it, but on to the next adventure, which was going to be different for sure. We drove first to the town of Matera to see the cave houses and cistern (which we didn't end up seeing). Once in Matera, we stopped for coffee (priorities!), then lost Monica since she wasn't feeling well. We continued on to see beautiful churches, a suspension bridge and gorgeous city views (called bellvedere). The walk around town was brutal tho between the heat, lack of air flow in the alleyways, slick steps and mostly uphill climbs. We did NOT die but one member of our crew may have been ok being left behind. Don't worry....we ended up with the same number of members as we started. Once thru the streets and after seeing all the sights we could on the right half of the city, we stopped and ate at Bar Filly. Monica felt better and joined us. I had a really good sandwich and much wanted Coke.
Exhausted and running out of time, we drove on to naples airport then got a taxi to the airbnb. This airbnb was different. Much much smaller and there was no real gathering spaces. We ended up having to hang in each other's bedrooms. We walked to Capatoast and ate dinner at capatoast, where I got a tuna Mediterranean salad. We went to the supermarket on the way back home to get supplies for our next two breakfasts. They had Vienetta dessert! We used to get it sparingly when I was a kid and it was so good but I thought they went out of business. Once back home, we just crashed again. And this is the beginning of go go go again so I really started getting behind on Journaling here.
