Interlakken and Lauterbrunnen and a hike that killed my knees
We woke up to snow on the nearby mountains and it was SUCH a beautiful sight and a welcome from the heat and lack of AC in greece and italy. We had a very late start, and we loved it until it kept us from seeing Grimmelwald due to time. So, we drove to Interlakken and ate at Husi Bierhaus. I got pork schnitzel with Jager sauce and side of fries and a very interesting side salad with Beets corn and lettuce. It was 10/10. We looked around the shops and tried some chocolate at a famous chocolate place but it was expensive. We got to see some more german style houses and shops and 2 rivers with once again that fascinating almost mint green or white/green color. Ryan tried to explain why it was that color but I forgot already! Next, we drove to Lake Iseltwald and hiked down the road to the lake and took pictures and walked around a bit. I had to pee really bad by this point so I borrowed 1 franc each from Monica so we use the only bathrooms available. What is up with these Europeans charging for public bathrooms?! I get the restaurants wanting you to buy something to use their toilet, capitalizing on your need to use it but also keeping down on the number of people in their establishment at one time. But public restroom fee?!! After this beautiful lake, we drove to Lauterbrunnen and some of us walked up this short but vertical hike to get a better view of the huge waterfall BUT it turns out you really couldn't see the waterfall just the city from higher. So atleast I got a cool picture of the city after that rigorous hike. My poor knees lately! By the time we were done walking the shops were closed so we headed back home by car. On the way back home our typical Schilthorn to Murren cable car was closed so we had to detour to Gimmelwald cable car first then Murren. I'm glad we didn't have to stay in Gimmelwald because the roads seem way steeper than near OUR house. Once we arrived back at the house we cooked up some grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with fruit and chips. Jeremy and the boys watched gladiator movie while monica, Kevin, alexis and I discussed plans for the next day. Then we went to our rooms to veg and crash.
