LUCERNE AND OUR LAST DAY BEFORE HEADING HOME
We woke up about 9am, ate eggs and toast and packed for the next place. I rode with Monica, Alexis and Kevin (and didn't die tho I might have yelled "weeeee" a few times!) and we drove to Lucerne. The Lake there is beautiful but not AS pretty as our view in Murren and Lauterbrunnen. Lucerne or Luzern had cool towers (including one with a clock inside) we walked to and then climbed up to see the city from the top. It's much bigger than I expected. I like Lucerne alot because it has that German vibe BUT also has more variety in housing colors and styles then Interlakken and Lauterbrunnen. After climbing the towers, we walked across a cool bridge and found a little place called Old City Take Away and we got Kebabs that were like gyro but open faced bread and thicker than gyro wraps. We agree they were all delicious and not too expensive considering the local prices. We walked from there across another cool bridge to Old Town, passing by several famous Chocolate shops. We stopped at Lindt and tried their delicious free sample. I was looking for an ICED coffee but alas Switzerland doesn't offer that often. One store said I would have to sit down at the restaurant to get an iced drink, but our crews were ready to head back to the car, so I passed. Along the way we saw vending machines. Switzerland has had some interesting machines because they have cheeses, meats or other interesting items we wouldn't offer in the US in a machine. After Lucerne, we split from Monica's crew and headed to our Hotel Allegra Lodge for the night. Of course this place AC doesn't work or maybe it works as good as European "AC" works. Thankfully Jeremy sacrificed and let me have the stand fan near me. We didn't try it, but they had Urban Mini Golf, which was a cool idea but $10 francs each. We chilled for quite a while in the room before going out for gas so the car would be returned full and dinner (because at this point we didn't trust the salami and cheese sandwiches to still be good after it sat in the heat all day). I got a curry schnitzel sandwich which had pineapple on it, and a caesar salad, which was a bit different but both very good. Once again I found new Haribos to try. Jeremy "threatened" to take me to the Haribo factory one day so I can stop saying "oh I haven't tried THAT one yet". I hope for this to be true one day cause I would DIE to be able to see ALL the Haribo flavors I haven't tried. I would literally buy a new suitcase (or two) to fit it all in on the return flight hehe. Alas I only have a FEW new bags from Europe (but THIS girl is very excited about it!). Jeremy and I watched a show together and the boys chilled in their bunk bed room.
