Early morning at 6am to get out at 630 and go the wrong way to the car rental return area. Once we found the right place, we returned the car and went to the check in for our flight, since the night before, I had messed something up on MY flight but not the other 3. Going forward in this day, I wonder if this flagged me. After security checkpoint and a long walk to E gates and then customs check, we scoped the international side of the airport for coffee. Specifically ICED because i had not got my fix the day before and checked out several places to find it. Switzerland just doesn't believe in ICED anything. So, we ended up finding a Starbucks (enter lots of chuckles) and got an iced coffee finally (even tho it was more money than we would like to have spent. Apparently Switzerland has the most expensive Starbucks in either the world or Europe (Kevin told us but I forgot which). At the time we were supposed to start boarding, one of the stewardesses came on the speaker to tell us the plane was a little delayed arriving. After waiting well over an hour at the gate and now technically boarding time, they called "Biller" among a few other names. Guess who got "random" screen checked?! Me. Just me. Random my butt. Anyways, I ended up having to go behind a screen and have both my carry-on and backpack completely emptied, both bags swiped for residuals, my shoes off and wiped, then the wand over me, then my hands wiped with the paper thing, and if all that wasn't enough also patted down by hand. The lady could probably tell at this point I'm ticked and annoyed because I have everyone's passports and boarding pass and they waited til the last second to check us AFTER going thru security and customs!! I was free to pack everything back up again, and she kindly offered to help but she had completely disorganized both bags and I politely declined and told her thanks but it goes back in a very specific spot. At this point almost everyone is loaded so me and my family scan our boarding passes but the machine wasn't working so me and the guy in front of me (who also had the random check) got our ends of the ticket torn off and told we were good. Once settled in the plane and everything where it goes, a lady came up and said there was a problem with the machine so she needed to see my pass, which was now securely under the seat. Lol. Mind you the rest of my family didn't have that issue. Just me. We got delayed from the plane arriving late AND late to leave the runway. You would think delayed planes get priority on the runway. The plane ride, was a smooth 10 hrs 55 min but arriving late. We had lunch served, which i chose the Chicken (other choice was pasta). It was some kind of chicken with mixed rice and broccoli, baguette and butter, salad, cheese wedges, crackers and a lemon crumble dessert. All were very yummy! Mid flight we had a snack of vanilla ice cream from a brand I've never heard of but was delicious. Our ETA was 210 now that the plane was late. Our connecting flight boards at 319pm. We hauled butt off the plane....thru customs...thru security checkpoint (where I almost lost my sweatshirt cause it fell off the belt and I didn't see it)....then on a train to go around the airport to C THEN literally ran and ran up to the gate just as they called our group which was the last one. NOW this plane is also delayed some because of needing gas. Then the baggage truck hit the plane and maintenance had to come out and reinspect before taking off. Almost home!
